Het nummer The Book Of Love van de Ierse singer-songwriter Gavin James was een megahit en zijn show op Eurosonic Noorderslag 2017 werd door 3voor12 genoemd als één van de 30 beste optredens. Vele tussentijdse successen later komt hij met een nieuwe show op 31 mei terug naar De Oosterpoort in Groningen!
Vliegende start
Gavin James zijn eerste ervaring als artiest was in de pubs van Dublin, waarna hij snel furore maakte. Vorig jaar scoorde hij twee #1 EP’s, tourde hij met Kodaline en James Blunt en werd het nummer Say Hello verkozen tot Song Of The Year tijdens ‘The Choice Music Prizes’. Ook was Gavin James de Spotify Spotlight-artiest van 2016 en genoot hij brede steun van smaakmakers op BBC Radio 1. Eind 2014 verscheen het album Live at Whelans. Mede door zijn zeer soulvolle stem, waar je makkelijk bij wegdroomt, werd hij toen al vergeleken met artiesten als Damien Rice, Ray Lamontagne en Ray Charles.
Succestour
De torenhoge, down-to-earth Dubliner met zijn hemelse stem en spine-tingling liedjes heeft een leger van toegewijde fans over de hele wereld bij elkaar gespeeld. Gavin James’ schema van het afgelopen jaar stond zo vol als in de voorgaande jaren. Zijn bekroning op een reeks uitverkochte shows kwam in december, in de 3 Arena: een rauwe headline-show met 15.000 toeschouwers.
Hongerig
James vertoont geen tekenen van vertraging in 2017 en lijkt nog altijd hongerig naar meer succes. De eerste helft van het jaar was al volgeboekt met rondreizen in het VK, Ierland, Europa en Amerika. In Nederland kwam hij al tot een grootse show in de AFAS Live, maar voor wie hem gemist heeft of het daar simpelweg geweldig vond is er nu dus een nieuwe kans om Gavin James live te zien!
Support Saarloos
Saarloos is een nieuw Iers duo bestaande uit de veelgeprezen singer-songwriters Brian McGovern en Craig Gallagher. Hun gezamenlijke talent zorgt voor meer dan 4 miljoen streams op Spotify. Saarloos heeft al met veel artiesten, waaronder Gavin James, The Coronas, Daniel Bedingfield, Picture This en Bon Jovi, opgetreden. Samen touren ze door heel Europa en doen o.a. Amsterdam, Rotterdam en Groningen aan. Een veel belovende band dat ook nog eens op 11 mei een nieuwe single genaamd ‘Changes’ uitbrengt.

2016 was another year of widespread success for Gavin James. ‘Breaking Artist’ winner at the A&R Awards, the Spotify Spotlight Artist of 2016 also had wide support from tastemakers on BBC Radio 1, Apple’s Beats 1 and Radio X. The toweringly-tall, down-to-earth Dubliner with his heavenly voice, spine-tingling songs and habit of jumping into audiences has earned himself an army of devoted fans around the world.
The past year’s schedule was just as rammed as the previous years’. The sold-out shows – headline this time -began with a three-night run at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre and continued with Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Amsterdam’s Paradiso and LA’s The Troubadour. His crowning moment came at the 3 Arena in December, a raucous headline show at the sold-out the 15,000-capacity venue.
Gavin shows no sign of slowing down in 2017. The first half was booked up with headline tours in the UK, Ireland, Europe and America. His April appearance at The Forum in Kentish Town will be his largest headline performance in the UK to-date. He also played his biggest Dutch show at the famous Heineken Music Hall on Oct 6th. In 2018 it’s time for a new tour!
Gavin’s total Spotify streams are rapidly heading toward 200 Million making him the 175th most streamed act in the world and rising. His breakout hit Nervous, which has to-date achieved over 100 million streams collectively on Spotify, reached No.1 in Holland, Top 10 in Norway, France and Ireland, going multi-platinum in those and several other international markets. Nervous has undoubtedly cemented Gavin as one to watch in 2017. His newest single, I Don’t Know Why, is a fresh take on a track from 2016’s Bitter Pill, slated for release in February. According to Gavin, I Don’t Know Why, a song about young love, came to be in a rather interesting way.
