Matthew and the Atlas brengt binnenkort nieuw materiaal uit!

Matthew and the Atlas

Matthew and the Atlas is opgericht door singer-songwriter Matthew Hegarty.

Band

Support: Kim Janssen

Enkel ongeplaceerde zitplaatsen beschikbaar.

Matthew and the Atlas will release new material shortly! Good reason for SPOT Groningen to invite the band to Groningen. On Thursday 14 November they will give a dreamy performance in the Lutherse Kerk!

Matthew and the Atlas
Matthew and the Atlas is founded by singer-songwriter Matthew Hegarty. The multi-instrumentalist makes classic folk roots that can carry you away to endless daydreaming. His lyrics are a pure expression of everyday emotions. Something everyone can relate to. Hegarty’s rough voice turns him into a wise storyteller; the listener eating up his every world.

Band
Matthew and the Atlas was the first group to be signed by the independent label Communion, the label of among others Bear’s Den. Moreover, Matthew’s music was the reason the label was founded! The band’s first two EPs brought along tremendous warmth and are gems to listen to around the open fireplace. On the debut album Other Rivers the band changed tack. They searched for the boundaries of their music by enriching soulful funk with synths and electronics; an act Hegarty compared to the musical street of Bon Iver. On the second album Temple, he takes a step back. Melancholy and emotion are tied together and the music is stripped from electronics, resulting in subtle and pure songs to dream away to.

MATA’s new work will be released soon. On 14 November they will perform in one of our SPOT venues: the Lutherse Kerk!
