Op maandag 6 november geeft de Belgisch-Italiaanse Melanie De Biasio een uniek concert in het Grand Theatre Groningen. De zangeres annex dwarsfluitiste combineert jazz en pop op onnavolgbare wijze in een fascinerende live-set.
Onlangs kondigde ze haar nieuwe en derde album aan; Lilies zal op 6 oktober verschijnen. De eerste single ‘Gold Junkies’ belooft alvast heel veel goeds! Voor het creatieve proces van haar nieuwe album Lilies, koos De Biasio geen makkelijke weg:
“I could have gone to a big studio, made a big production – but I wanted none of that. I wanted to go back to the seed of creativity, the simplest materials. I was in this room where there was no light, no heat. Very uncomfortable. But I felt free. I was happy to have this feeling – ‘I don’t need more, I have everything I need here”, aldus de zangeres.
De Biasio is de dochter van een Italiaanse vader en een Belgische moeder. Ze is opgeleid aan het conservatorium in Brussel en won nog tijdens haar studie een Django d’Or in de categorie ‘jong talent’ en een Octave de la Musique in de categorie ‘jazz’. Na haar debuut A Stomach Is Burning (2007) vond ze op haar tweede album No Deal (2013) haar eigen stijl waarin invloeden van Portishead, Chet Baker en Nina Simone in doorklinken.

Onder het label GT Music presenteert Grand Theatre in samenwerking met partners uit de stad regelmatig bijzondere concerten in de Benedenzaal. Het concert van Melanie de Biasio is geprogrammeerd samen met De Oosterpoort.

Recently she announced her new and third album ‘Lilies’ that will be released on October 6th. The first single ‘Gold Junkies’ is very promising! The creative process of this new album was different than before. De Biasio:

De Biasio is the daughter of an Italian father and a Belgian mother. She studied at the conservatory in Brussels and won a Django d’Or in the category of young talent and an Octave de la Musique in the category of jazz. After her debut A Stomach Is Burning (2012), on her second album No Deal (2013) she found her own style in which you hear the influences of Portishead, Chet Baker and Nina Simone.
