Theaterkrant ★★★★

Masterpiece pierces the heart
Dutch National Ballet presents ‘Giselle’: a ballet that is as timeless – and perhaps as beautiful – as The Night Watch. The masterpiece of choreographer Marius Petipa, with music by Adolphe Adam, is a highlight of Romanticism. The adaptation by Rachel Beaujean and Ricardo Bustamante respects the tradition. This version – with wonderful scenery and costumes by Toer van Schayk – still pierces the audience’s hearts. The story has not lost expressiveness at all: impossible love is of all times.

Following internal successes, the Dutch National Ballet brings this classic back to the theatre. And that is something to look forward to.
