Illusions is Ibrahims fifth studio album that has been released on his own label Mi’ster Productions (November 2013). Previously the albums Diasporas (2007), Diachronism (2009) and Diagnostic (2011) were released; these were later bundled and brought out as Diasporas (2012).
In addition, Ibrahim Maalouf made the soundtrack for the new motion picture 'Yves Saint Laurent'. No less than half of the music in the movie is on his behalf.
Last year Ibrahim released his successful jazz album Wind (2012), which has been nominated for an Edison Jazz 2013 in the category “Jazz International”. The French national music library gave Ibrahim Maalouf the task to compose the music for the silent movie La Proie du Vent (“The prayer of the wind”), a movie from 1927 by the French movie director and writer René Clair (1898-1981).
Ibrahim is a composer and trumpeter of classical music and jazz. Amongst other things, he has given concerts as a solo trumpeter with l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, l’Orchestre de Chambre de Paris and the Chamber Orchestra of Brittany. He is most well-known for jazz and contemporary world music, which is well received worldwide. When performing his music, he makes use of a so-called quarter tone trumpet, an instrument invented by his father Nassim Maalouf – also a classical trumpeter and trumpet teacher.
The career of the in Lebanon born musician and music teacher is going well. He has received a large number of international prizes for classical trumpet, including the Maurice André City of Paris International Competition, as for jazz.
